Travelling Tastebud Adventures 2010-
Check out the fun Gluten Free Events, People, and Places of 2010…
It was all clouds of sugary dust, home made Gluten Free and Vegan christmas cookies, and lots of great company. We made 5 different types of cookies together and I can’t believe how many racks, and racks of gingerbread we ended up making!
If you are a local and looking for great gluten free baked goods, look no further. Joanna’s goodies will tempt you down to your teeny toes and make you beg for just. one. more. gigantic chocolate gooey cookie.
I have never met so many fun, supportive and kind ladies all in one spot… we cooked, we laughed, we ate. And ate. And everything was gluten/sugar/egg/dairy/corn/soy free!
Wherein we dive into clouds of sugar, marvel at the number of beautiful cuppie confections, and realize that I put in the only GF cupcake for the competition. So many bakers in the city, and so much fun. And hoping next year there will be more GF entries!
So the very first time I covered an event and I’m glad it was totally dedicated to gluten free products… I learned alot, and met some great folks! You’ll see pics of some neat goodies and very local producers.
Meet up with some nutritionists, take a shot of greens and get a jolt, and then take a short store tour of the gluten free goodies they have (I had no idea it was so much…)

Traveling Tastebud Adventures 2009:
2009 was the year of the Last Hurrah. In the midst of trying to figure out why I was so sick all the time and running around to 2 bajillion different doctors, I kinda knew that my big enemy was my food. So, I did it up in style, one last time, and had a few adventures to acknowledge the demise of my old diet. Of course the binge-worthy events did certainly make me sick as a DOG, but. Hey. I got some pretty pics out of it, and by April 2010, I finally had the definitive list of what was making me so bloody sick. And the beginning of this blog to record my new food.
BizBash NYC - Flickr Photo essay
Food and Wine Festival, NYC Oct 2009 was quite the adventure. Biz Bash was an evening of appetizers and drinks put on by local caterers and producers. It was certainly glitzy- they took care of alot of details, such as the PERFECT lighting for taking photos. My point and shoot was in heaven. My gut, not so much. But, it was part of my Last Hurrah weekend – If i was going to go down, I decided I might as well go down in flames.
100 Mile Brunch NYC - Flickr Photo essay
Food and Wine Festival, NYC Oct 2009. This was an event that I had been hotly anticipating. It was laid back, had a wonderful variety of locally grown and cooked from scratch dishes, and beautiful presentation. The producers and local farmers were invited to speak, as well. Delicious and terrific. It was one of my last events of eating out before admitting I had some serious intolerances and stepped out of the wheat/dairy/egg/soy,etc… scene.
Le French Lounge NYC - Flickr Photo essay
Food and Wine Festival, NYC Oct 2009. This was the 3rd last hurrah before cutting out my ‘bad’ list of foods… ok, the whole weekend was a last hurrah… I did pay for it, for weeks afterwards… but honestly, New York City Wine and Food festival is a Once in a Lifetime Must Do. So i did it. This event was a tribute to French cheese and wine.
Wine Pairing Breakfast NYC - Flickr Photo essay
Food and Wine Festival, NYC Oct 2009. This was the last of the last of the last of the last hurrahs. Final event of the weekend- wine pairing for breakfast! I was finished by 11 am ! I learned so much, ate some cool stuff, got wickedly sick, and called it a night on the Bad Foods. But I have to admit it was so worth it.
Ottawa Wine And Food Show - Flickr Photo essay
The Ottawa Wine and Food Show Nov 2009 was alot of fun, took in samples and learned a bit about local restaurants. Not exactly gluten free though, and would be difficult to participate with any food intolerances. Ok, lets admit it. I got retardedly sick after this event. My own fault.

Zia Franca and the Sausages- Flickr Photo essay
Sausage making February 2009 in my Zia’s cantina. It was an epic meat grinding occasion, from noon till midnight, and I don’t think I will EVER take for granted the awesome sausages my zia makes! Now that I really know how much work goes into making them… And I’m so glad I had the chance to get a glimpse into something that few people ever do anymore….
